Countries are adopting experimental trade policies to counteract trade liberalization’s negative effects, yet their efficacy is uncertain. Examples like the ACCTS and the EU’s CBAM illustrate innovative approaches but face risks of protectionism and backlash. Rigorous research is essential to evaluate these policies, ensuring they foster public trust and support sustainable trade practices.
